There is now heating and lighting installed and the floor has had several coats of sealer. Next - more paint, sink unit and water and lots of shelves for storage.
Here is the finished log cabin. I'm very pleased with the look of it and getting used to the view from the house. It's an opportunity for creative planting. I now have to decide on the paint colour and put on two coats of preservative. As the weather has turned cold I don't expect I'll get the paint on until the Spring now.

I am having a shed built in the garden by a Wiltshire firm called Garden Affairs - scary and exciting at the same time. This is what it was like this morning. by about midday Lunch time - was really feeling a bit faint! This is going up SO fast - even the dog is surprised. - and by 3.30pm it has a roof. These guys don't hang around. They were on a roll. It looks quite small in the garden but rather large from the house. However, I do get a view now across the Painswick valley. It is stunning with the colours of the Autumn leaves. This is the November Journal quilt, still on the theme "blue". Last March I spent a week at a farm in Mevagissey, Bodrugan Barton, taking a workshop. This design is taken from a photograph of reflections in a swimming pool there. They reminded me of those swimming pool paintings that David Hockney painted. The technique is machine reverse appliqué. I used some of my hand dyed cotton fabric and used the microwave and a jar to over dye a small quantity of grey sheeting to get the dark blue. I have a mind to make a large piece like this, but with turned edges to get a smoother line. The original photograph with the swimming pool windows reflected in the water. |
