March 2012 Journal Quilt 
| The design for this piece was taken from a slide of a human cerebellum at about 10x magnification. I was intrigued by the shape as it is very plant- like and reminiscent of lichen structures. The brief was to use shades of red so I chose three shades of pink for the background. One section was needled with wool tops and another had a pink spider net on the surface which was also needled to distort it. The brain stem was appliquéd on the surface with a black chiffon behind. |
